Swedish

Swedish massage is what most people are thinking of when they envision the soothing and relaxing treatment for the body. It involves a number of different techniques, ranging from long strokes, kneading, friction and tapotement (tapping) of the muscles, as well as active and passive movement of the joints. Putting the body in a restful, balanced state also frees up the mind and spirit.

Reiki (Level 1)

Reiki is ideal for those who are looking for emotional healing, spiritual energizing and a sense of personal calmness.

The Reiki practitioner draws in energy from the atmosphere and channels it with intent and direction. The treatment involves the practitioner serving as a vessel that channels universal life energy. This energy flows down through the crown and/or brow chakra(s) and out through the palms into the client. Aside from the practitioner being a conduit, there is nothing to control or regulate. The importance for; both parties to release expectations, and for the client’s intellectual and emotional willingness to receive treatment, are fundamental.

There is no, or extremely light, contact between the practitioner and client. The client remains clothed for the treatment which can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Longer sessions are available when needed.

Combining Modalites.

Reiki, Thai, Reflexology and Chakra Balancing can be incorporated into my Swedish treatment. My goal is to address your needs, interests and curiosities while providing you with an overall sense of relaxation, rejuvenation and balance.

Reflexology

Reflexology massage is based on a system of points in the feet and hands which relate, or reflex to all areas of the body – that there is an energy connection between specific spots on the feet and hands and other parts of the body. For example, stimulating the balls of the feet is thought to have beneficial effects on the lungs.

Chakra Balancing

Chakra Balancing has its roots in the eastern philosophy which breaks down the bodies core (the spine, from the tail bone to the top of the head) into seven spinning wheels of energy – each having a specific location meaning and function, as well as relations to specific colors, frequencies and gem stones. The goal of balancing is to unblock, reset and /or energize compromised charkas.

Thai Massage

(Assisted Yoga)

Thai massage is sometimes called assisted yoga because of its use of several yoga positions. It is much more interactive than traditional Swedish massage due to its involvement of passive stretching and manipulation of the client. Many people are under the misconception that Thai bodywork hurts, or that you need to be very flexible. The practitioner will only take the client to their individual comfort level. Thai massage should not be painful, and you do not need to be a yogi to enjoy it.

The client most often wears loose, comfortable clothing and the treatment can take place on the floor or massage table. It’s worth noting that due to the nature of the treatment, the client and practitioner are often in close physical contact. If this is something that concerns you, we can discuss and adjust treatment as needed.
